Call to Action
As San José State University undertakes a new strategic planning effort under the guidance of our new president, Dr. Mohammad Qayoumi, the SJSU Salzburg Program has issued a Call to Action urging the University to make Global Citizenship @ SJSU a strategic priority for the entire campus. Our ultimate responsibility as educators is to prepare all of our students to live and work in the complex interdependent society of the 21st century – global citizens armed with the knowledge, skills, tools, values, and commitment to make a decent living and exercise leadership to build a better world. We need to develop a compelling vision that leverages SJSU's fortuitous location in Silicon Valley and our collective capabilities to become a recognized national leader and exemplary Best in Class campus of the CSU system, widely known for providing a distinctive education that prepares students to be global citizens on both a personal and a professional basis. As the Town Meetings kick off this year's ambitious strategic planning process, we encourage all of our constituencies - faculty, staff, students, administrators, and community - to help SJSU launch a comprehensive effort to globalize the University, through a collaborative campus-wide initiative that will link existing capabilities together and nurture the development of new capabilities to achieve this strategic priority over the coming decade.
